Rocky Mountain Technology Group, Inc. (RMTG) (Billings, Montana) Establishes New Standard for Digital Management of HIV/AIDS Programs
| November 17, 2005 |
Solidifying its leadership role in the application of information technology to fight the HIV/AIDS virus worldwide, Rocky Mountain Technology Group, Inc. (RMTG) http://www.rmtg.com announced today the release of ARVims Version 2.0.
RMTG’s ARVims Version 2.0 establishes a new global standard for digital management of HIV/AIDS patient records, physician-patient confidentiality, pharmaceutical distribution, inventory management and report production. The software grew out of RMTG’s collaborative effort with the government of Uganda to address that nation’s HIV/AIDS challenge, along with RMTG’s development of cutting-edge pharmacy management applications in the U.S.
RMTG has worked with Uganda’s Ministry of Health since 2003 to develop a clinical and pharmacy management system for HIV/AIDS programs. A two-year field study is nearing completion and RMTG’s product is scheduled to be in use at clinics across Uganda early in 2006. Lessons learned in Uganda have driven development of RMTG’s ARVims Version 2.0 to address the special needs of public health agencies battling the pandemic.
“This product is the most advanced and complete system in the world for helping medical professionals focus and coordinate their efforts to combat this deadly disease,” said Harvey Stewart, RMTG’s President & Chief Executive Officer.
A public health provider can now conveniently and accurately manage confidential information starting when a patient registers for a treatment program. The system tracks all physician-patient consultation information, monitors pharmacy inventory and provides data that can be used for accountability and forecasting. The new version offers improved functionality and greater ease of deployment.
RMTG’s ARVims Version 2.0 provides specific features deemed most important by public health officials and integrates those features to facilitate a “big picture” assessment and management of progress against the HIV/AIDS virus.
The application stands alone in the world because it:
* Captures data required by both local public health agencies and international monitoring groups such as the World Health Organization;
* Handles exponential quantities of data in a seamless transition among patients, physicians, pharmacists and public health agencies responsible for reports, accounting, and controls;
* Provides easy-to-read screens developed during two-years of field testing in Uganda – a nation recognized worldwide for its strides against HIV/AIDS;
and
* Facilitates patient data record transfers between clinics, with or without electronic connectivity. Transferred data is encrypted for confidentiality and security.
RMTG’s ARVims Version 2.0 also has features making it a world leader in health care information management systems:
* Biometric fingerprint authentication for positive identification of users, patients and authorized proxies for medication delivery;
* Patient registration files incorporating basic demographic information, HIV care history and current anti-retroviral therapy and regimens, treatment interruptions, and adherence;
* Support for patient prescription payment plans, allowing eligible patients to receive ARV drugs free or at reduced prices;
* Integrated security elements to prevent unauthorized access to patient information, drug inventory records and administrative tools;
* Centralized data center repository, allowing import of incremental clinic database export files and management of aggregate reporting, master database back-ups, user-defined lookup tables and the approved drug formulary;
* Extracts that are generated centrally and distributed to all clinics, ensuring that clinic databases, reports and applications can be updated as needed; and
* Local Clinic and Data Center reports that include periodic inventory summaries, stock usage, monthly and quarterly patient regimen and treatment trends and other information to facilitate drug needs/usage tracking and prevent fraud – as well as a number of patient demographic statistics, CD4 Count, and World Health Organization (WHO) Clinical Stage summaries.
