Businessman hopes to produce energy-saving fuel additive in Great Falls, Montana

Great Falls entrepreneur David Brown is distributing a Northern Ireland company’s energy-saving fuel conditioner with hopes the company soon will build a plant using water from Giant Springs.

The fuel additive, called PD-5, can improve gas mileage by 10 to 20 percent, claims its developer, Pendragon Holdings Ltd.

Brown, president of the Source Giant Springs Inc. bottled water company, has worked for several months to stimulate interest in the Belfast company’s fuel conditioner by distributing it for free or at discount prices.

To help build his case, he asked a professor in MSU-Northern’s diesel technology program to test Pendragon’s claims about PD-5.

"We’re trying to set up a very structured engine test to verify the effects the fuel additive has on fuel consumption, power and emissions," said Professor Greg Clouse. "We’ve done some initial testing, but are waiting to receive a very sophisticated piece of equipment before completing our work."
