Billings owner takes the leap with 1st business after doing plenty of homework

Sue Rydquist gazed at her husband’s mahogany plywood and envied it for one of her projects.

"Honey, when are you going to finish that boat?" she asked.

The first-time female entrepreneur wanted the wood for the interior design of her new business: the Simply Wine store that opened two weeks ago.

Her husband, Stephan Bradley, earns his living as an engineer at HKM Engineering and builds boats on the side.

The top-grade mahogany plywood and her husband’s woodworking talents were tapped to provide custom wine shelves for the store at 517 S. 24th St. W. in the KW Plaza across the street from Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

Coming off a career as chief operating officer at Intermountain Mortgage, the Billings native calls herself more of a businesswoman than a wine connoisseur.
