Made in South Dakota Program Introduces New Website to Promote the Creative Community

http://www.madeinsouthdakota.com is excited to announce the addition of world-class artists Jon Crane, Mary Groth, Don Montileaux, Russ Duerksen, and Dick Termes and a whole new look and feel.

Just in time for the holiday season, more than 1,000 new products and new search options are available. The artists have created pieces that will give a little bit of home and South Dakota to their customers.

"The last couple of months have been extremely productive for the Made in South Dakota Program," said Jafar Karim, director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. "We have totally revamped our website to make it more shopper friendly and we’re now able to feature pieces from some of the state’s most renowned artists."

One of the biggest changes buyers will notice is an increase in the search capabilities of the site. Shoppers can now search the website by vendor, by product, or by town. "We know how important it is for buyers to be able to search for products in a variety of ways, so we’ve focused a great deal of attention on increasing those capabilities," he said.

"Made in South Dakota emerged as a goal of the 2010 Initiative to promote South Dakota-produced art, crafts, food and other fine goods," said James D. Hagen, Secretary of Tourism and State Development. "It’s a perfect venue to show the world what South Dakota has to offer, and encourage the development of entrepreneurs and artists throughout South Dakota."
