Scotland is set to launch the Edinburgh Research Partnership (ERP), a £24 million (about $42 million) initiative aimed at linking engineers and mathematicians at two Edinburgh universities and making them more attractive for international research funding and venture capital funding.
The ERP is funded by the U.K. and Scottish governments and the universities of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt, according to a statement from the University of Edinburgh. However, how long the money is expected to last was not stated.
The partnership is also set to benefit companies working in the energy, electronics, medicine and finance, said Denis Hall, the director of the ERP, in a statement.
