New Database of State Policies to Strengthen Arts Education

According to Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee, and the Education Commission of the States (ECS), it is critical to put a greater educational emphasis on creativity and the arts in the knowledge economy.

Research has shown students receiving early exposure to music and other arts have better math and language skills. They are also more likely to engage in lifetime learning. In response, ECS has created the Artscan Policy Database, a 50 state compendium of policies to strengthen arts education.
