Small business is booming in Northern Idaho

Spokane district seeing exceptional growth

The growth rate of small business in the Spokane district of the U.S. Small Business Administration, which includes North Idaho, continues at a record pace.

Even with the staff of the Spokane office cut back to three and loan processing moved to Seattle, the number of loans to small businesses is increasing.

"The good news is nationwide appropriation levels increased to $17 billion from $15 billion in fiscal year 2004," said Bob Beck, vice president and manager of small business lending at Mountain West Bank.
