The Montana Commission on Community Service is seeking proposals from eligible organizations for AmeriCorps grants that will address pressing community needs in the areas of education, environment, healthcare and public safety. Grant applications are due by December 16, 2005.

Examples of current programs include:

* The Montana Conservation Corps, a team based program working to enhance the social and natural environment of Montana by providing service opportunities in natural and human resource stewardship; and

* The Montana Technology Corps, a University of Montana sponsored program working to close the digital divide in Montana by providing K-12 children and parents who have limited access to technology with the opportunity to access computers and learn important technological skills.

Eligible grantees include 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, state agencies, cities, counties, municipalities, and Indian tribes. Partnerships of eligible grantees may collaborate on grant applications.

Technical assistance for potential grantees is available through the Montana Commission on Community Service from October 17 through December 1, 2005.
