From buggies to business – Renovated Third Street home becomes haven for Montana entrepreneurs in Hamilton

A Hamilton man recently took a 1940s-era home and its accompanying carriage house, located just a few blocks from downtown, and created state-of-the-art office space, including a commercial kitchen and multimedia conference room.

Jim Olsen needed all the amenities of a big city office in order to do his work as a contractor for the Defense Department. But rather than lease or build an office to merely meet his own needs, he and his wife, Mary Byers, decided to create an office that would serve a variety of local businesses.

"Our goal was to have the best office space in Hamilton," Olsen said, a day after returning from a business trip to the U.K. "We took a single-family house that most recently had been a bank foreclosure and remodeled it, staying true to its original Chicago bungalow style."
