New state health insurance plan designed to help small businesses in Montana

Bob Dalrymple took about 10 minutes this week to fill out an application that could save him thousands of dollars and give his employees their first shot at health insurance.

Dalrymple, owner of Stillwater Hardware and Lumber in Columbus, recently learned about the state’s program that will make health insurance more affordable for small-business owners and their employees. The program will not go into effect until January, but applications are being accepted now, and the demand may prove greater than the number of openings.

"If they (the state) get me a reasonable rate, something I can swing, I will certainly do it," he said.
