Ohio Developing Statewide Cybersecurity Strategy

Ohio’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is in the middle of developing a strategy for a state-wide standardized cybersecurity program. The project began in June 2005 with and is expected to be completed in September.

As part of the contract, Haverstick will define executive-level requirements, and establish a security training program, as well as a vulnerability assessment strategy through facilitated workshops.

Confidentiality and security are among the five guiding principles for Ohio’s Framework for Digital Government http://oit.ohio.gov/digital/DigitalGovernment.aspx .

Haverstick’s assessment will help to satisfy one of the many objectives and initiatives that Ohio is addressing as part of a balanced scorecard approach to unify and achieve consensus among senior state leaders. After Haverstick has completed this project, Ohio’s state leaders will have a better idea of how to approach a cybersecurity program and protect all aspects of electronic communications and transactions with the government.
