Arcomac of Missoula lands $9.5 million federal funding contract through the support of Sen. Conrad Burns

Montana Sen. Conrad Burns announced a $9.5 million leg-up for a Missoula engineering company Tuesday at a groundbreaking ceremony in the Missoula County Development Park.

Then the senator pitched a shovelful of sod with a golden shovel.

"It’s broke. Now you guys can move the dirt," Burns said, grinning at a construction crew who stood nearby.
The money from the U.S. Energy and Defense departments will help buy equipment for and fund research and development by Arcomac Surface Engineering Inc. http://www.arcomac.com/ , a 4-year-old subsidiary of a Missoula dental equipment manufacturer called American Eagle Instruments Inc. http://www.am-eagle.com/

Arcomac uses proprietary technology to put protective coats on a broad range of tools and machine parts used in manufacturing and in vehicles, said vice president of operations Jeff Wisehart.
