Montana Chamber of Commerce Update

Rehberg mission a hit!

The trade mission recently concluded by Congressman Denny Rehberg landed several new contracts and promising leads for Montana businesses. The Montana Chamber, including President Webb Brown and Board member Steve Holland of the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center http://www.mtmanufacturingcenter.com/ , made good use of their invitation, by meeting with chambers of commerce in Germany, Spain, and Ireland. In addition, meetings were held for general business inquiries and for tourism development. The mission was coordinated and supported by the Montana World Trade Center http://mwtc.org/ and the U.S. Commercial Services of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Once finalized, the contracts are expected to total several million dollars. Additional commerce as a result will easily exceed that amount. That represents new dollars for Montana businesses and new markets for Montana quality. The Montana Chamber intends to conduct trade development seminars around the state this fall.

The only misfortune around the entire visit was the London terrorist bombing on Thursday, the day the group flew from Madrid to Dublin, although the flight was not affected in any way. Our thoughts and prayers go to the victims.

Chamber Choices family grows

The Havre Area Chamber of Commerce is the newest addition to the Montana Chamber Choices health insurance plan. Now their members will be able to access this addition to health insurance choices available to Montana businesses. Members of the Havre Chamber, or the Montana Chamber or 24 other local chambers of commerce, can receive a quote by contacting their local Blue Cross/Blue Shield agent.

Congratulations to Sherry Cladouhos, the new President/CEO of Blue Cross. We also understand that New West Health Service CEO Patrick Aberle will be leaving his post the end of this month.
