Montana businesses report success on European trip organzied by the Montana World Trade Center at the University of Montana

Eight Montana businesses concluded a European trade mission with close to $10 million in new contracts and sales agreements.

In a telephone news conference Friday from Dublin, Ireland, Arnie Sherman, executive director of the Missoula-based Montana World Trade Center http://www.mwtc.org , proclaimed the Montana trade mission a success, adding that the eight businesses were all well-received, garnering close to $10 million in overseas sales.

The Montana delegation spent the week in Munich, Germany; Madrid, Spain; and Dublin. The trade mission ends Saturday morning, although some of the business leaders will be continuing their European tour individually.
Sherman, Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., and Mark Peters of the U.S. Department of Commerce accompanied and coordinated the 17 business representatives overseas.

Each Montana business spent about $6,000 to $7,000 in airfare and lodging, said Sherman, but for most of the companies, it was worth the investment.

John Ryan of Armor Auto in Missoula walked away with a $40,000 contract with a German company.
