Keeping Productivity High Throughout the Summer Vacation

Some things are a given when it comes to small business, including change, taxes and the summer vacation season.

But is your small business prepared for the absences that summer vacations will likely bring? By taking a little time now to put a summer vacation plan in place, you can ensure that your employees get the time off they deserve and that your business runs efficiently in the process.

Scheduling is perhaps the most important thing you should consider when it comes to planning for summer vacations. You don’t want everyone taking off the same week if your business cannot handle that. For that reason, have your employees let you know in advance when they would like to take their vacation time so you can mark the calendar accordingly.

Another reason it’s helpful to know in advance when your employees will be taking time off is so you can make sure you have a full staff on certain weeks that you know you’ll be busier than normal. For example, if an important trade show is coming up, you might want to have everyone report to work that week. By having summer vacations scheduled in advance, you can make sure someone’s vacation doesn’t throw a monkey wrench into the implementation of a major project.
