Missoula research ecologist Michael K. Schwartz honored as top young scientist

Research ecologist Michael K. Schwartz of the Rocky Mountain Research Station’s Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Missoula is one of 58 recipients of the 2004 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the White House announced Monday.

The awards are the nation’s highest honor for professionals at the outset of their independent research careers.

Schwartz was in Washington, D.C. on Monday to receive the award in a ceremony presided over by John H. Marburger III, science adviser to President Bush and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
