Great Falls businessman turns to technology to create paperless office

File cabinets don’t collect dust in John Gilbert’s office, but not because of his neat-freak tendencies.

The thousands of documents stored at his business, The Financial Valuation Group http://www.fairmarketvalue.com/ , are on computer servers. So are his notes, telephone messages and contact lists.

And he can access it all from Florida, New York or Two Dot if needed.

Welcome to the paperless office.

Gilbert banished stacks of papers when he left an accounting firm in 1999 and went out on his own. He focuses on tallying the value of businesses and giving expert testimony in court.

"It was the perfect time to do it, because I was starting from scratch," said the self-professed gadget freak.
