Ennis biz defies naysayers, uses biodiesel – Madison Lumber Company

When Nancy Griffin started considering switching her small fleet of delivery trucks over to a blend of biodiesel, she heard a lot of reasons on why it wouldn’t work: It’s too cold in Ennis and the blend might gel. The fuel could foul her vehicle’s engines. It’ll cost too much to transport to the small town far from any interstate.

But Griffin did her homework.

She called suppliers. She talked to a pioneer in biodiesel use in Yellowstone National Park. And then she bought a new truck for her Madison Lumber Company http://www.madisonlumbercompany.com/ and started importing a 20 percent blend of biodiesel to run it as well as the other three trucks in her fleet.

She’s happy with the results so far.

"I did a lot of research," Griffin said. "I’ve been interested in alternative fuels for quite some time."
