New Enterprise Ireland Strategies

The Irish Government has recently announced a new set of economic strategies that includes a heavy emphasis on new enterprise development. The program, entitled Transforming Irish Industry, was unveiled in early May by Micheal Martin, Irish Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Development. The ambitious plan has several priority goals: ensuring that Irish firms are competing based on innovation (not just cost), and helping to “scale up” Irish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) so that they can compete on a global basis.

Enterprise Ireland will also introduce a new program, Enterprise Start that is designed to improve services for first-time business owners. Finally, the new strategy includes a €20 million (euro) Productivity Improvement Fund to assist high-growth firms in acquiring new technology or in upgrading the skills of key management and staff.
