Idaho governor meets Taiwan president to end 13-day Asian swing

Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne met with Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian on Friday to conclude a 13-day mission to promote the state’s exports in rapidly growing Asian markets.

The mission, which included key Idaho business people, visited Japan, South Korea, and China, before touching down in this self-governing island of 23 million people about 100 miles off the southern Chinese coast.

Christy Eames, chief executive of Twin Falls-based recycling company Hamilton Manufacturing Inc., also attended a portion of the trip that included a visit to a new insulation distributor in Beijing, China. Hamilton produces mulch and insulation at its Twin Falls plant and does much of its business internationally, shipping cellulose insulation and mulch for the hydroseeding of grass to countries like China and Malaysia.
