High-tech firm picks Blackfoot for office

A Chubbuck high-tech engineering and manufacturing company will build a new $7 million headquarters in Blackfoot, company officials announced Wednesday.

Premier Technology was also considering potential locations in Pocatello, including one at the Pocatello Regional Airport, and in Texas and Nebraska.

The planned 100,000-square-foot headquarters, engineering and manufacturing building will be the anchor of a planned technology park, located on 20 acres between Interstate 15 and the Snake River just south of the main Blackfoot exit.

Construction will begin in July, and the plant is expected to open in April 2006.

Premier will also continue manufacturing indefinitely at its current Chubbuck plant, located at 170 E. Siphon Road. The Blackfoot building will have twice the space of the Chubbuck building.
