Missoula bacon maker purchased for $45 million – Daily’s Inc.

Missoula’s little piggy has gone to market for $45 million in cash.

Daily’s Inc., a Missoula-based bacon maker, has agreed to be purchased by Seaboard Farms Inc., a subsidiary of Seaboard Corp., an agribusiness and ocean transport concern based in Shawnee Mission, Kan.

"I hope it will give us a chance to get bigger and better," said Warren Wilcox, CEO and chairman of the board of Daily’s. The company, founded in 1893, has about 100 employees in Missoula and 300 at a plant in Salt Lake City.
The purchase, which is scheduled to close in early July, will allow Seaboard Farms to further integrate its business vertically. The company owns hog farms and slaughterhouses and, starting two years ago, began taking its pork products closer to consumers, said David Eaheart, marketing director of Seaboard Farms.
