Aerial imaging firm, Positive Systems in Whitefish lays off 50, Flathead County officials told

Positive Systems http://possys.com , a 15-year-old technology firm in Whitefish specializing in aerial imaging, recently laid off about 50 employees and defaulted on several contracts, the Flathead County Commission was told.

Tom Reynolds, program manager of the county’s GIS bureau, told commissioners that Positive Systems was unable to complete work on a $180,000 Homeland Security contract to provide aerial imagery of 13 populated areas across Montana, including portions of Flathead County.

Reynolds said the county would have to complete the final portion of a contract involving about 1,400 square miles of imaging, much of it between Bigfork and Whitefish.
