Missoula CFO-to-go's expertise fits perfectly with mid-size companies, clients say

After a morning spent discussing business concepts and month-end financials, Steve Schmidt took a few minutes to troubleshoot some computer problems over the telephone. His new laptop was on the fritz.
In the doorway of Schmidt's office at Milky Whey Inc., an international marketer of dairy ingredients, owner Curt Pijanowski expounded on his chief financial officer's importance to the business: "We just picked up another seven-plus figures of financing. Our banks talk directly to Schmidt."
Nothing unusual about that, except that Schmidt isn't your everyday CFO. He works at Milky Whey only one day a week. He splits the rest of his time between four other Missoula-area businesses and a startup.
