Visual Learning Systems, Inc. of Missoula Teams with LizardTech to Provide Communities with Cutting Edge Technology

Visual Learning Systems, Inc. (VLS) is teaming up with LizardTech Inc., a
leader in software solutions that make it significantly easier to manage,
distribute and access digital content, to provide discounted software to
state and local government agencies.

VLS began its Feature Analyst State and
Local Government Grant Program only a few short weeks ago, and dozens of
agencies have already applied. Those that are accepted, and take advantage
of the Grant Program will receive a 10% discount on LizardTech’s GeoExpress
4.0 with MrSID® geospatial image compression software.

“This joint offering
from Visual Learning Systems, Inc. and LizardTech provides cutting edge
technology to agencies with a pressing need but limited resources,” comments
Dave Opitz, President of Visual Learning Systems, Inc. “We are happy to
provide this solution for our clients and equally pleased that LizardTech is
working with us.”

Feature Analyst software technology is widely used within the United States
Defense and Intelligence Community to extract geospatial features, such as
roads, buildings, vegetation, and hydrology from high-resolution
panchromatic, color, and multi-spectral imagery. The underlying technology,
developed by VLS through NASA and DoD research grants, is exceptionally
accurate, simple to use, and works within existing GIS and image processing
software such as ESRI’s ArcGIS and ERDAS IMAGINE.

“With the highly efficient image compression technology in GeoExpress 4.0
with MrSID, agencies can easily store, manipulate and share high resolution
image feature sets they have extracted from geospatial imagery using VLS’
Feature Analyst,” said Brian Soliday, LizardTech’s Vice President of Global
Sales. “We’re pleased to be teaming with Visual Learning Systems to provide
state and local governments with the tools they need to make best use of
geospatial imagery within their communities.”

GeoExpress 4.0 with MrSIDâ is the de facto industry standard for managing,
accessing and distributing massive geospatial imagery such as aerial photos
and satellite images. Built on innovative MrSID technology that
dramatically reduces file size and preserves image quality, GeoExpress
includes a robust toolset making it easier to produce customized imagery for
unique GIS needs.
