The Entrepreneurial League System in West Virginia & A Rural Success Story
| April 2, 2004 |
Entrepreneurship efforts have been underway in West Virginia for some time. Remember that West Virginia was among the first rural discovery states supported by the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship.
(Thanks to the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship http://www.ruraleship.org for passing this along- Russ_)
The Benedum Foundation http://fdncenter.org/grantmaker/benedum/ recently awarded a grant to Advantage Valley, an economic development organization, to implement the Entrepreneurial League System in a multi-county, multi-state region.
“ELS is a new approach to economic development that we embrace. We are committed to seeing it implemented successfully,” said Tom Potter, co-chair of Advantage Valley. “The Entrepreneurial League System will focus on helping communities develop entrepreneurial talent and build successful companies effectively, efficiently and equitably on a large-scale and sustainable basis.”
The Center will be following and documenting the implementation of this promising approach to entrepreneurial development so watch future newsletters for reports on the progress of the WV project.
