Smurfit sees wider loss
March 20, 2004 /
Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. said it expects a first-quarter loss of 22 to 25 cents a share. The Chicago-based company said its loss will widen from the year-earlier loss of 13 cents because of falling prices for corrugated containers and higher benefit costs. The company was expected to have a loss of 11 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial/First Call.
